O japonês Takeshi Kitano já existe para o cinema há um bom tempo. Furyo (83), onde contracena com David Bowie e Ryuchi Sakamoto já completou duas décadas. Mas foi apenas no final dos anos 90 que Kitano se fez mostrar com a devida importância, desta vez com cineasta. Primeiro, reformulou a violência com Hana-Bi – Fogos de Artifício (97), depois recuperou a infância no bonitinho Verão Feliz (99). No ano passado, fez sua obra-prima.
Dolls toma pra si três histórias clássicas do clássico teatro de bonecos japonês. Três histórias de amor. Amor que não se consuma. Na primeira, uma mulher abandonada pelo homem que ama renuncia à vida sem morrer. Eles estarão acorrentados para sempre. Na segunda, um homem é capaz de se mutilar para ficar mais perto de sua musa. Na última história, uma senhora vai todos os dias para o mesmo banco de praça levar a marmita para o namorado que há décadas deixou de aparecer.
Kitano revela uma habilidade para a delicadeza raramente vista no cinema de hoje. É um mestre dissertando sobre o poder do amor e da doação sem soar óbvio ou clichê. Fala sobre o quanto podemos fazer para ficarmos perto de quem amamos. Nas três histórias, que se cruzam várias vezes, há de comum a renúncia completa para ter – ou por não ter – o objeto amado. Kitano fala pouco e diz muito. Fala pelos quadros que compõe, pelas cores que oferece ao espectador e ao amor.
A fotografia de Dolls é destruidora. Um filme que se conta pela imagem. O diretor não tem pressa para explicar que a ausência do amor pode fazer a vida se justificar pela mais mínima das razões: seja um banquinho de praça sem um brinquedinho de criança. São três histórias de solidão e de beleza absoluta. Beleza numa folha caindo no chão ou numa bolinha rosa esmagada por um pneu. De que adianta a vida se vc não pode soprar?
